For a friend

A friend who's loving
So sincere
Trusting all you do
A friend who'll give
More than he'll take
And relish everything
You bake
Who'll never judge
Or lie
Or hurt you
Never knowingly
Dessert you
Who'll always listen
Without complaint
Who's basically
A total saint . . . .

And if this friend
Must never be
A conversation hog,
Well then my dear
It's plain to see
You need to get a dog.
